Online Therapy

Do You Wish You Had Someone To Talk To About Your Mental Health?

Have you been struggling lately but lack an outlet to express your fears or concerns?

Have you been wanting to pursue therapy but feel too busy?

man on his phone Are you looking for an alternative to in-person therapy?

Maybe you’ve been depressed, anxious, or just plain stressed. Or it may be that you and your significant other are having marital or relationship troubles and want someone to talk to. Whatever the case, you feel hard-pressed to fit therapy into your day. Your work schedule is busy, you don’t have tons of flexibility, and the best times for you to do therapy all coincide with rush hour and long commutes. Alternatively, you might be a teenager who isn’t driving yet, making in-person therapy dependent on your parents’ schedules.

You know you need professional help, but you aren’t sure how to find the right support without it disrupting your daily routine. Thankfully, online therapy—otherwise known as teletherapy—can help you find relief and healing.

Online Therapy Is More Common And Effective Than You May Realize

In our digitally-interconnected world, virtual mental health counseling is no longer the “exception” to in-person counseling. Even prior to the COVID-19 outbreak, online therapy was exceedingly common, offering a convenient and secure alternative for clients who couldn’t attend in-office sessions or who simply preferred working from the comfort of their own homes.

In a society with widespread internet access, long work schedules, and now COVID-19, doing counseling online is often the most realistic option. What’s more, waiting to pursue therapy until life “calms down” is not as good an idea as it sounds. We don’t know how long the current pandemic will last or when (and if) things will ever return to “normal.” And when left untreated, anxiety, depression, relationship troubles, and other ailments can get worse.

If you want to take the first step to overcome your mental-health struggles and lead a more joyful, confident life, teletherapy can offer the compassionate support you need when you need it. We offered online therapy before the pandemic, and will continue to offer it even when the pandemic has passed.

Online Therapy Is Safe, Secure, And Offers Long-Term Gains

Talking to a therapist online offers you a safe space where you can discuss your issues without fear of judgment or the worry that conversations—especially with your partner or family—will get too heated. Whether you attend sessions on your own, as a couple, or as a family, it’s important to remember that we don’t take sides. If it’s relationship therapy, we’re on the side of the relationship; if it’s family therapy, we’re on the side of the family. Our goal is to help you and your loved one(s) find healing and reconciliation, not division. And research has shown that working with the right therapist can strengthen family and relationship bonds for years to come.

When meeting online, we use SimplePractice, a HIPAA-compliant system that ensures all information shared via therapy will be kept 100% confidential. HIPAA, or the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, is the national standard that ensures your sensitive health information is protected by a secure process, whether we meet in person or online.

The only things you’ll need to meet with your therapist online are a fairly stable internet connection and audio/video on your device. In the event we run into internet troubles, we can always do phone therapy that week. We also employ a HIPAA-compliant backup system just in case SimplePractice is ever unavailable. For communication purposes, we can either message via email or through the secure client portal on SimplePractice. You can even pay bills securely via SimplePractice if you like.

Before we get started, we encourage you to schedule a free phone consultation where you can ask any questions and make sure your therapist is the right fit for you. If you decide to schedule an appointment, you’ll receive an email at the time of your session with a link to a secure online meeting room. When it’s time for your session to begin, you just click the link.

We have been doing online counseling since the practice opened. While we know things may look bleak or hopeless at the moment, we truly believe change is possible. With the right guidance and support, you can overcome the feelings that are dragging you down and lead a more joyful, fulfilling life. Whether you are seeking online depression counseling, family counseling, or couples counseling, our goal is to ensure you feel the connection and support needed to restore your health and relationships.

You may have concerns about online therapy…

Does online therapy work? Is it as effective as in-person therapy?

As long as you have a decent internet connection, and as long as you feel comfortable opening up about your struggles, teletherapy can work just as effectively as meeting in-person. In fact, there are small but significant advantages to online counseling. If you’re joining sessions from home, for instance, online counseling can give us greater insight into your living situation and the daily challenges you are facing. Moreover, doing therapy from the comfort of your home may provide a more relaxing environment where you feel more confident discussing your needs and goals.

I’m worried online therapy won’t be as secure or private as meeting in-person.

Concerns about privacy are perfectly legitimate in this day and age. However, the video platform we use is HIPAA compliant, and we can always ensure 100% privacy on my end. What’s more, if you don’t feel comfortable doing therapy in your home, you can do it wherever you have a secure internet connection—in your backyard, your car, or on a walk if you prefer.

Do you work with groups, couples, or families online?

Yes! In fact, one of the major benefits of online therapy for many clients is that it makes it easy for them to meet as a couple, family, or group when their locations or schedules have made in-person treatment feel out of reach.
